This section is intended to provide information about the RULES that govern the sport of IDPA. Furthermore additional information explaining pertinent rules, interpretation and application is also provided.

- ACTIVE RULES - Effective April 15, 2005
These are the active rules of IDPA & it is suggested that each shooter have a copy of this said rule book in their shooting bag.
- 2010 ADDENDUMS TO THE RULES - Effective June 07, 2010
The Addendums to the Rules came into effect in 2010 and serves to clarify & expand the rulebook of 2005 and must be read with the rulebook.

- Tactical Reload/Reload with Retention - Rule clarification
Whenever a Tac Reload or Reload with retention is specified in a course of fire (including stage 3 of the Classifier) the shooter may at his discretion perform either one of the two.
In other words neither a Tac-load nor RWR can be mandatory. The difference has become non consequential iro IDPA sport shooting.
- SSR Power Floor - 17 January 2011
IDPA recognizes the difficulty of finding off the shelf factory loaded .38 special ammunition that meets the existing 125,000 power floor for SSR. Because of this difficulty, IDPA has decided to lower the power floor required for SSR to 105,000.
This change in power floor will become effective on January 17, 2011.
- Dedicated Sportsman Status (DSS)
Outline of process to request a DSS Certificate from SADPA
Members are reminded that a Minimum of 20 Points is required before the application will be considered.
EXISTING DSS Certificates
Members with existing DSS Status are reminded that an annual reduction of -20 points (1st of January of each year) is in place. A minimum level of 20 Points is required to maintain DSS status.
SHOOTERS have points allocated on the following basis:
Club Shoot : 4 points
SADPA League Shoot : 6 points
SADPA Nationals : 8 point
SA Champs : 10 points
SAFETY OFFICERS are allocated additional points on the following basis:
Club Shoot : 1 points
SADPA League Shoot : 2 points
SADPA Nationals : 4 points
SA Champs : 4 points
DSS points reduction -20 : 01/01/2011
The removal of 20 Points for all members with DSS certificates issued prior to 31/12/2010 has been implemented.
The need and reason for this has been communicated with members before.
THE NEXT -20 ADJUSTMENT WILL OCCUR 1 JAN 2012
All members must ensure that they maintain the minimum points level to keep the DSS status.
